Halloween 2022
Hope everyone had a nice Halloween!!! Halloween seems very different nowadays compared to when I was a kid. When I was a kid we would put on our costumes and go trick or treating on Halloween, seems crazy right? Today there are so many events leading up to actual Halloween. The girls went to a Halloween festival a couple weeks before Halloween which included pumpkin picking and other Halloween games, oh and a big inflatable slide I waited on line over an hour for. It was nice cause Vera’s family met us there and the girls had fun.
On Halloween Olivia had school since it fell on a Monday. The school was having a Halloween parade around the school in the morning so Siena and I waited in front of the school, Olivia’s nonna an zia came as well to see her in the parade. Olivia was first in the parade since she is in pre k and she did a great job in her witchy costume. Later that day Olivia’s class held a Halloween party so Siena, Grandma, and I went to that. Olivia got to wear her costume all day and showed us all the Halloween themed arts and crafts projects she did. She also got goody bags with various toys because no one is allowed to bring outside candy or food for the other children (another difference from when I was a kid.) I remember birthdays and holidays at school we would have cupcakes and snacks with goody bags but that’s not allowed anymore.
Vera was working so while we waited for her to come home we went to my sisters and went trick or treating by her house. They close off a few blocks and most of the houses decorate and give out lots of candy. Another difference I noticed is now there are a lot of these trunk trick or treating events where you go to a school or something and go trick or treating out of peoples car trunks, its weird. Anyway the girls loved it and got a ton of candy, some houses handed out spiked apple cider and other Halloween themed drinks for the adults which is always nice. It was a lot of walking so the girls were tired they took a nap so when Vera came home they were sleeping. When the girls woke up Olivia was pretty much done trick or treating but she enjoys seeing peoples costumes so Olivia and mommy handed out candy to the trick or treaters by our house. Now that Halloween is over we have a bunch of candy and I pick at it every time I walk by so I asked Vera to take it to work and give it out to her kid’s, we left some for the girls though.
